The dirt in Dirt PoemsIntroducing the debut solo album Dirt Poems from Wellington artist Tessa Rain. Engineered by Lee Prebble and produced by long-time collaborator Age Pryor, Dirt Poems is a spacious, solitary beauty. It is dedicated to the roads of the South Island, which Rain walked alone with just her guitar for six weeks. Although that walk determined her to finally record, she wrote the songs for the record over a period of twelve years...making this release a much awaited event! In contrast to Rain's lonesome walk, the recording of the songs has been very much a warm family-type affair, with her brother Rob Hinkley playing, along with friends Jen Lyons, Ricky Boyd, Age Pryor, Lee Prebble, Jason Murphy, Jesse Rivest, James Coyle, Rio Hunuki-Hemopo, Mara TK, Ryan Prebble, Dan Yeabsley, and Lukasz Buda.

I walk six weeks
covered in it
try to fight and
stay clean
But Dirt, I give up
You’re everywhere! and thank goodness.
This record is for you.
